Additional Details

A mother teaches her young son to participate in the armed struggle. A target is set up for practice just outside their window.

We have seen two different printings of this poster, with their priority undetermined. On this one, the credit reads: "Emory / Revolutionary Artist," and the address plus phone number is printed in six lines. The Panther logo is about the size of the mother's foot, and a millimeter or so below the image. This printing also has a slightly wider crop, with the cushion in lower right showing five full loops in the lower part. This version is held by the Oakland Museum and appears as the frontispiece of "Black Panther: The Revolutionary Art of Emory Douglas." The other printing credits "Revolutionary art by / Minister of Culture / EMORY" in the lower left, and has the address one three lines; the logo is about half the size of the mother's foot and overlaps the image slightly; and the cushion in lower right has four and a half loops in the lower part.

This is the first example we have offered of either printing since 2016.
